Household and Laboratory Moves for Summer 2019

The university relocates most of our new incoming faculty and staff during the summer. Summer is also the busiest time of year for the moving industry. Procurement asks that departments who will be arranging relocations do so now for moves that will occur during the summer of 2019. Remember that new hires should have accepted the offer of employment prior to arranging relocation. Please allow Procurement Service at least 60 days advance notice of a move.

To arrange relocations, please create and submit requisitions now. If your unit does not have funds available now, submit a Letter of Intent to Relocate. A sample Letter of Intent to relocate can be found on the Procurement Website, UF Departments, Moving: https://procurement.ufl.edu/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Household-Moves-Letter-of-Intent.pdf

Information needed to place a move includes:

• Faculty/Staff members name
• Position / Title of person
• Current address
• Destination address if available – destination city if not.
• Email Address
• Cell phone number
• Contact name to arrange move if not the faculty or staff member

Remember, all household moving expenses paid on behalf of or reimbursed to UF employees are a taxable benefit that is subject to employment taxes on the employee’s paycheck.

Should you have questions about the relocation process, email Procurement@ufl.edu.

Questions about taxable benefits should be directed to taxhelp@admin.ufl.edu.
